French Company Opens Plant-Based Meat Facility

The French company Tereos opened its first vegan meat-making facility in Alsace, France, last week. The new factory will produce plant-based protein under the name Le Sauté Végétal, made from wheat protein and chickpea flour that will be sold in shredded form.

The company is a member of the European innovation coalition “Improve”, which is financially baked by “France’s Investment for the Future”-program which aims to shift protein production away from animal agriculture.
