Matcha tea bread rolls

I love playing around with matcha tea when baking! It adds so much color, and considering the fact that it contains 137 times more antioxidants than regular green tea, it also makes everything a little bit healthier – even breakfast rolls 😉

Quick matcha tea bread rolls

  • 75 g/2.6 oz fresh yeast
  • 50 g/1.7 oz non-dairy butter
  • 2 cups water
  • ½ tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp matcha powder
  • 5 cups bread flour
  • soy milk, for brushng
  • sesame seeds, for garnishing
  1. Crumble the yeast in a bowl. Melt the butter, add water and let warm it up to lukewarm temperature. Pour over the yeast and stir until the yeast is dissolved.
  2. Add sugar, salt and matcha powder. Add a little bit of flour at a time and knead into a dough, about 5 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough in 20 pieces, roll into small balls and place on a baking sheet. Let rise for about 15 minutes under a damp towel. Brush with some soy mikl and bake in the oven for 7 mintes at 250°C temperature.
